There are a lot of story lines to follow at Beaver Creek. Last week, the Austrians, Italians, and Norwegians dominated the top ten in both Super G and Downhill in Lake Louise. Will the same be said for this weekend? Norwegian Aksel Svindal, who was third on the Downhill podium last week, has excelled at Birds of Prey, with 5 career wins. Italian Beat Feuz, last week’s downhill winner and holder of the downhill crown from the 2017 World Championships, snagged a bronze at Beaver Creek in 2015. In the Super-G, it would be unwise to not consider Austrian Hannes Reichelt for a spot on the podium; he has 3 World Cup Birds of Prey wins and a gold from the 2015 World Championships at Beaver Creek. As for the Americans, Bryce Bennett, Travis Ganong, Andrew Weibrecht, and Jared Goldberg all look to improve on their Lake Louise finishes.

Hungry to get back on the course, as evidenced by his controversial Sölden comments, American Ted Ligety is a strong favorite in Giant Slalom. The Birds of Prey course has been kind to him, with six career GS victories. In recent memory the Birds of Prey GS crown has went to one of two men, Ligety or Marcel Hirscher (Austria). When was the last time one of these two didn’t take the top spot on the podium? 2009 folks. Will this year be more of the same and shape up to be a Ligety-Hirscher showdown? With Hirscher’s recent injury and lack of time training on the new radius, it doesn’t appear it will be more of the same this year. Keep your eye on Alexis Pinturault to make a podium push. Who do you think will round out the GS top three?

Every ski racer should attend at least one World Cup event. Be on the lookout for Team Fuxi at Beaver Creek this weekend. Fuxi and his team will have big news to share with you. For those of you unable to attend, fear not! The Birds of Prey will air on NBC. See below for times and channel information.
